“For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.” Isaiah 44:3
After prayer walking through the main city and among many Muslim communities and also in seeking out several of the ‘G-people’ camps throughout the region, the most impactful visit to me was when we were invited to the city home of one of the ‘B families’. This family lived in desert tents during the summer and came to their city home during the winter months. As we talked and shared food with this family, my heart was just filled with a hope and vision for them. They were so hospitable, strong in relationship and community. The father recalled his ancestry all the way back for almost 11 generations. I felt a little bit like I was going back to Old Testament times and talking as they would around a fire pit, inter-generational setting with the head of the family telling stories of their family’s life together. I thought how sweet it would be to sit with my own children and go back 11 generations and tell of the mighty and wondrous deeds of God. I had such a deep desire for this man to be able to add to the stories of his genealogy his very own praises of Yahweh GOD and to tell how he came to know Him and have salvation through His son, Jesus Christ in this present generation. It was exciting to think that there could be amazing new stories about the great and wondrous deeds of the Lord in his life and in the lives of his children and grandchildren! What a legacy. I believe that a man like him could have great impact in the community and among the ‘B-people’ throughout the region because all the ‘B-people’ are somewhat one big family. News travels quickly among them. How magnificent the potential for LIGHT to spread throughout the deserts of North Africa through this family. It was exciting to dwell on these thoughts as we took the train back to the main city. It was wonderful to dream about the possibilities of our relationship with these people. When they begin to experience true relationship with God, Creator and Redeemer, then I know the whole people group will be changed forever! How blessed we are to have our own legacy to pass down to our next generations as we participate in the mighty works and deeds God will do among this people in N. Africa! I cannot wait, can you?
