Boulder – March 2013

21 Mar

As Paul commended churches for their faithful laboring in the Gospel, so our Boulder team (as an evidence of God’s grace) has been commended for their selfless display of the Gospel as it is expressed through the local church.

‘For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.  for they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.’  1 Thessalonians 1:8-10

‘So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.  do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.  Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.  Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God,  did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.  And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.  Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.’ Philippians 2:1-11

“Greetings to you in the name of Christ, our common Lord.

It was my privilege to work with “your guys” as a volunteer at Horizons International on a painting project. I have never interacted with a group of young men as focused on the task at hand, as responsive to requests, as persevering, and as respectful and friendly as this. What a testimony they are to the One who has given them new life and purpose. I wished I had had their maturity and Christian commitment when I was their age, about 50 years ago.

You and your fellowship are blessed to have them in your midst.”

-Eb Roell, volunteer at Horizons International

“I wanted to personally thank you for sending your Men’s Team to serve at Horizons International.  They were a great group of young men whom you can be proud of!  We enjoyed them for several reasons:

1.  They are hard workers.

2.  They have a servant’s spirit.

3.  They like working together.

4.  They cleaned up after their work.

5.  They want to grow in their walk with Jesus.”

-Todd Gunning, Director of Horizons International
