A team of two guys will be serving along the Amazon River in Colombia, working with our partners in engaging the unreached, indigenous tribes of the Amazon jungle. God is doing some incredible things in this part of the world, as we are seeing the Gospel declared through Creation To Christ story sets. Disciples are then raised up to share these stories with their own people in these villages. Pray for the continued growth of these new believers, for our partners as they disciple them in the Word, and for our short-term teams to encourage these believers and our partners, and to sow seeds of the Gospel among the unreached in the Amazon.
We have a new partnership we are launching this Spring Break as we send our first team to work with Noel and Lori Tugwell with Outside the Bowl. The Tugwells are not new to UBC, as Noel grew up in our fellowship and he and his family have lived in Siloam Springs establishing the Titus Task. They joined Outside the Bowl in 2013 out of a desire to see physical needs and spiritual needs met among Haitians. Outside the Bowl seeks to alleviate the food epidemic that has ravaged Haiti for numerous years, as they ultimately want to point people to the Bread of Life, who is Jesus. The Tugwells also partner with national pastors and orphanages to see evangelism and discipleship take place in the context of the local church. Check out this video to learn more about Outside the Bowl’s ministry through ‘Super Kitchens.’ A team of three will be serving in Haiti over Spring Break.
A third team will be traveling to Boulder to continue in our efforts to see church planting take root and bear fruit in this least reached city of North America. We will be partnering alongside The Well, a church in downtown Boulder, who desires to see this city transformed with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As we continue to send teams to partner with like-minded established churches and church plants, we want to continue to get our feet wet for what church planting looks like in this context, and to pray that God would continue to move us in taking the necessary steps to see a church planter and team sent out to establish another light in this city. Our team will be working alongside The Well in reaching into the homeless and youth populations of Boulder, and leading out in tangible service projects with Gospel intentionality. Check out this video which gives you a glimpse into the latest update on The Well.
As the church, we have a mandate to pray, send and go. Even if you aren’t going on one of these trips, we want you to pray for Gospel seeds to be sown and for lasting fruit to be born in the lives of the indigenous Amazon tribes, the impoverished Haitian adults and children, and the enteprenual and intellectual of Boulder. They all need the hope of the Gospel that comes through the preached Word of Christ. Part of sending calls for some to give their resources so that others may go. Pray about how God would use you to send these teams so that others may hear as the Word is proclaimed and believed upon.
