Ellen Burns – IMB Journeyman to Mexico

02 Sep

It has already been more than two months since I first arrived in Mexico, and the time just keeps on flying by. Every day I am amazed at the way that in theIMG_0004 morning we can have no idea how we are going to spend our day, and then, suddenly, it’s time for bed! Candace and I often tell each other that every day is an adventure, because something new or different happens pretty much every day.

One of our adventures from these past two weeks was that we had the opportunity to help a house church in a nearby village put on its very first VBS! It was nothing like any VBS I have ever seen, but the kids loved it! I felt incredibly blessed to be able to be a part of seeing this small house church beginning to reach out to their community. It was also incredible to see the true love of God through the family who hosted the VBS in their home. Every single day that we met, they not only helped with the program, but they also spent what little money they had to feed all of the children and the leaders. They always offered more to anyone who wanted it, even if it meant they would go hungry themselves. It was humbling to see them, who have so little, offering what they had to us, who have so much. I pray that God will continue to open doors and provide us with opportunities to share His incredible love with others here!

Praises & Prayer Requests:

God continues to show us that He is with us, and brings encouragement through different ways on the days that we are struggling the most.

Please pray that God will give us the energy we need to get up and going every morning, and the motivation to leave the house even when we feel exhausted.

Please pray that we will be able to manage our time well, in order to make the most of these new relationships while also keeping time for our own language study and work.
