This week Candace and I passed a pretty big milestone; we have officially been with the IMB for 18 months! As hard as it is to believe, that means that in less than six months our time in Mexico will be complete. It also means that the time has come to really focus our attention on translating Bible stories so that we can leave behind a useful evangelism tool for others once we are gone. It is a big project, but we believe it is what God brought us here to do, and that He will help us to complete it. ”
However, during a meeting this week our supervisor pointed something out to us. Yes, our job, our project is to help translate and record a set of Bible stories, but that doesn’t mean that is all we are to do here. It isn’t like in school where you finish your final project for the year and then you are done. The reason we came here is so that others might hear truths from God’s Word. We came here so that God can use us to shine a light into their lives, and help point them to God. ”
So that is our prayer: that God will help us to complete our project, but that more than that He will use us to share the Gospel with the lost. We pray that the relationships we have made here, and that we continue to make, will be open doors for us to tell others about what God has done. And we especially pray that we will never lose sight of the real reason we are here, and the One we are here to serve.
A friend here who lost two children to miscarriage just gave birth to a healthy baby girl!
As the IMB works through financial difficulties, we are daily hearing of more families who have chosen to retire from mission work and will soon be transitioning back to life in the U.S. Please pray for these dear families, that God will provide new employment and housing, as well as peace during this difficult time.
Oct. 23-31 month my Dad and brother-in-law are coming here to the village for a few days to see the work we are doing, and then we will all spend several days working with a mission team in Oaxaca. Please pray for safe travels for everyone, and that their visit will open doors for us to share the Gospel with the people here.
