Grandview Apartments – Summer Missional Outreach

Coming into the summer as an intern to Grandview I didn’t know what to expect. Most of the kids I had worked with before were privileged kids. The first day of ministry for me at Grandview I was initially pretty disappointed as only one girl showed up.   However, as I spent the next few hours with Madison, I realized that the number of kids that show up isn’t what it’s about. Whether one child or 100 children come it’s my job to show them the love of Christ and teach them who He is.

As more days passed, more girls came and we were able to include more activities with them. We did everything from finger painting to foursquare, Bible verse memory to birthday parties. It’s been an honor playing and growing with these kids through everyday recreation type activity. Our hope is not only to help these kids have fun, but also to teach them skills that they can use in the future, as well as share the Gospel with them.

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” – Psalm 127:3

After meeting the kids from Grandview, this verse couldn’t be more true. Although at time they can test your patience, it’s impossible not to love them as the gift they are. I have been privileged enough to be able to serve these kids this summer!

Grandview Outreach

It’s incredible to see the Body of Christ serving together, as UBC teams up with Southeastern Louisiana University’s BCM, to serve Grandview Apt. residents in building picnic tables.  This will be a great place for both the community there at Grandview together, but also for various ministry opportunities to take place around these tables.  The team took the time to write Scripture on the underneath of the tables, so as to serve a reminder of the fruitfulness of the Word of God, through the Gospel, being both declared and demonstrated.  Thank you SELU for your service to the city of Fayetteville, to Ken Evans, Chet Sullivan and Dale Eastburn for your leadership of this project, to UA BCM (and Cole) for allowing these team to partner with us, and to Grandview, for allowing us to be the church to the Grandview community.

 

Grandview Thanksgiving Outreach – November 2014

We shared in the blessings of Thanksgiving by serving a meal to the community of Grandview Apartments on November 25, 2014.  There were over 100 residents in attendance and it was a great opportunity for the UBC family to love on our community and share of the greatest blessing of all in Christ!
